Ingersoll Rand is an American lock manufacturer. Ingersoll Rand is primarily known for having owned many smaller lock manufacturers, including some well known names like Schlage and CISA.

History

Ingersoll Rand began in 1871 as a rock drilling company founded by Simon Ingersoll. Throughout their history they have been mainly focused on designed and producing drilling and pneumatic hardware. In 1974, Ingersoll Rand acquired the Schlage lock company. Since then they have acquired many smaller lock companies, including CISA, an Italian lock manufacturer, in 2005.

Though incorporated in Dublin, Ireland, the company's operational headquarters is located in Davidson, North Carolina (USA).

In December 2013, the security brands of Ingersoll Rand formed a standalone, publicly-traded company named Allegion Plc (NYSE: ALLE).
