The STUV Ivox is a lever lock with plastic curtain containing eight levers. There is no control lever. Each lever has six heights. The curtain throws the bolt and opens the lock.
* Lockpicking
* Decoding
The first known decoding process and tool for this high security lock was designed and developed by a company called Technical Entry in 2021. The principle is relatively simple. Levers are set into a know position and can be tested. Positive gate locking leads to good feedback and easy determination of true gates. With an improved pin and cam style technique all lever height positions can be tested per lever with one tool insertion. Lock decoding times can be under 10 minutes (7 minutes was recorded).
The Interactive is a UL 437-rated pin-tumbler lock made by Mul-T-Lock, with a dimple key. Patented in 1993, the Interactive is a telescoping pin design that uses 5 inner and 5 outer pin pairs. The dimple key raises both the inner and outer pins to the shear line. The Interactive is the first in Mul-T-Lock's telescoping line that uses a moving element in the key to raise a pin stack higher than physically possible by a traditional key.

The Interactive supercedes the Mul-T-Lock Classic and has since been superceded by the Mul-T-Lock MT5/MT5+. The Mul-T-Lock CLIQ is an electomechanical lock that uses a modified Interactive cylinder with a sidebar and electronic components. The Mul-T-Lock 3-in-1 is a construction keying system that uses Classic and Interactive cylinders with modified plugs and inner pins.
Principles of operation
The Interactive platform brings support for back and side pins. It has hardened steel inserts to prevent drilling and uses telescopic pins to increase the difficulty of picking the lock. Mul-T-Lock uses security pins to further increase the security of the lock.

Mul-T-Lock keys are noticeably different from traditional pin-tumbler keys due to the mechanism of the lock. It is similar to the Mul-T-Lock Classic but with the addition of a moving component inside the key used to deter unauthorized key duplication. The keys come in three styles, ones that have a rectangular grip, metal grip,and a rounded grip.
Vulnerabilities
The Interactive may be vulnerable to one or more of the following:

* Lockpicking
* Key bumping
* Impressioning
* Decoding

Notes:
* Key bumping is disputed as a valid attack. The high number of components likely makes the process more difficult when compared with traditional dimple or pin-tumbler locks. Mul-T-Lock offers "Split-D"/anti-bumping pins in newer Interactive cylinders.
Kwikset is an American lock manufacturer that produces low security lock cylinders, electronic locks, and door hardware. Kwikset is one of the most well-known lock manufacturers in the United States, with a high market share in most residential areas.
History
Kwikset was founded in 1946 by Adolf Schoepe and Karl Rhinehart. The original lock was a tubular design which was dubbed the "Kwikset" because it could be quickly installed and serviced. Since then, the company has become primarily associated with their pin-tumbler lock designs, though modern Kwikset designs include wafer and electronic locks.

In 1957 Kwikset became a subsidiary of American Hardware Corporation (AHC). In 1964, AHC merged with Emhart Manufacturing Corporation. In 1989 Emhart was purchased by the Black & Decker Hardware and Home Improvement Group (HHI). Black & Decker combined with Stanley in 2010 to become Stanley Black & Decker.

Spectrum Brands Holdings, Inc. completed the acquisition of HHI from Stanley Black & Decker, Inc. on December 17, 2012.

In June of 2023, ASSA Abloy completed the purchase of Spectrum Brands Holdings' HHI division, which included Kwikset.

A pin-tumbler is a cylinder based lock design that uses movable pins to prevent rotation of the plug. A key is used to properly elevate pins to allow the plug to rotate and the locking bolt to be retracted.

The pin-tumbler is currently one of the most widely used lock designs in the world. Minor changes to the positions of pin-tumbler components are the basis for dimple and axial/tubular lock designs.

__TOC__

History
Pin-tumbler locks were originally invented in ancient Egypt. The design used a series of single pins that, when locked, would prevent movement of a bolt by resting inside the bolt itself. The key was used to raise pins out of the bolt, allowing it to retract. This was the first use of a shear line, a major discovery that is the basis for all cylinder based locks in modern use. Early pin tumbler locks, bolts, and keys were all made with wood, but eventually brass and iron were used. Many cultures adopted the design throughout history, but it would not be widely used until Linus Yale Sr. and Linus Yale, Jr. modified the pin-tumbler design in the mid 1800s.

Linus Yale Sr. improved the Egyptian design with the idea of pin pairs. In the original lock pins were required to be raised high enough to clear the bolt, but were not checked to make sure they weren't raised higher than necessary. The addition of a second pin in each chamber allowed for positive locking when components were raised too high. In this design, the key had to properly raise the pin pairs so that they could separate at the shear line, allowing the locking bolt to be retracted. Yale Sr. also added springs above the pin pairs to force them down to their locked position when no key is inserted.

Linus Yale Jr. continued his father's work by improving the design of the pin-tumbler. He made it smaller, more reliable, and changed the design of the key to be flat instead of fluted. This type of key is still used by modern pin-tumbler locks.

The design of the pin-tumbler lock has remained virtually unchanged since the Yale family's contributions. Master keying allows the addition of pins in each chamber to provide various methods of keying a particular lock or group of locks. Other improvements have been in the form of auxiliary security mechanisms to prevent compromise. Security pins, sidebars, and side pins were created to frustrate lockpicking. Other anti-picking modifications exist, such as rotation or telescoping. Finally, ball bearings and hardened steel rods or discs are now inserted into the plug or cylinder to protect the pin stacks against destructive entry.

Principles of operation
Pin tumblers are a series of pin stacks pushed to a default position by a spring. The default position of each pin stack causes the driver pin (the one in contact with the spring) to block rotation of the plug. Each pin stack must be properly aligned to allow pins to separate at the shear line. Once all pin stacks are properly aligned the plug can freely rotate and actuate the locking bolt to lock or unlock the lock.

An incorrect key will not align all components correctly; rotation of the plug will be blocked at the shear-line.

<div align="center">
<gallery>
Image:Pin_tumbler_no_key.jpg|A pin-tumbler cylinder, no key inserted.
Image:Pin_tumbler_with_key.jpg|A pin-tumbler cylinder, correct key inserted.
Image:Pin_tumbler_unlocked.jpg|A pin-tumbler cylinder, correct key inserted and plug rotated.
Image:Pin_tumbler_bad_key.jpg|A pin-tumbler cylinder, incorrect key inserted.
</gallery>
</div>

Components
; Key pins (bottom pins)
: The pins that are touched by the key. Key pins are sized differently corresponding to the different depth cuts on the key. When the correct key is inserted, all key pins are aligned at the shear line, allowing the plug to rotate.

; Driver pins (top pins)
: The pins placed between the key pins and the spings. In their resting position, the driver pins block rotation of the plug. In more advanced pin-tumblers, driver pins may be sized inverse to the key pins to defend against decoding and attacks via comb picks.

; Springs
: Springs placed above the pin stacks push pins down to the their resting position, ensuring that pins cannot be trapped above the shear line while the plug is in the default position.

; Plug
: The plug is the inner piece of the lock that rotates upon insertion and tension of the correct key. The plug is connected to the cam to actuate the bolt mechanism when rotated.

; Cylinder
: The cylinder is the outer piece of the lock that houses the upper pin chambers and the plug. Driver pins and springs are trapped in the cylinder's pin chambers, commonly referred to as the bible, when the correct key is used and plug rotated.

; Cam
: The cam is an extension connected to the back of the plug which actuates the bolt mechanism to lock or unlock the lock.

Vulnerabilities
Pin-tumblers are vulnerable to a wide variety of attacks. The specifics of the pin-tumbler design and manufacturing tolerances will determine the exact vulnerabilities present, but most pin-tumblers are vulnerable to at least one or more of the following:

* Lockpicking
The 120 series is a consumer-range set of brass pin-tumbler padlocks made by Lockwood. They range from 30mm to 60mm in width, with varying thickness shackles to suit, and come with three keys from the manufacturer.

Features
Padlocks in the 120 series are assembled by Lockwood and cannot be dissassembled non-destructively. They are non-key retaining and feature relatively paracentric smaller keyways. The shackle is secured with two spring-loaded locking lugs, which leave the padlocks vulnerable to shimming via the shackle.

Pinning
The 120 series contain 4-5 pins, which are a mix of spools and standard pins. The spools used in this series are different to the spools used in Lockwood's commercial range, which are commonly called Lockwood shallow spools.
120N series
The 120N series contains a variant for every lock in the 120 series, and adds a protective silicone jacket on the lock body. All shackle length variants are available within the 120N series.

121 series
The 121 series is a variant available for the 120/40 and the 120/50. The 121/40 and 121/50 respectively, have a plastic shackle guard fitted to protect the shackle from basic attacks. The 121/40 is only available with the standard length shackle for the 120/40.

The No. 6 is a pin-tumbler padlock made by Master Lock. The No. 6 uses a laminated brass padlock body with an internal key-in-knob-style cylinder. The inner cylinder uses four pin stacks and does not use any security pins.

The No. 6 is a common low security padlock used in the United States. It is one of a line of laminated brass padlocks that includes the Master Lock #2, #4, #6, and #8.

Principles of operation
:See also Pin-tumbler (Principles of Operation)

The No. 6 cylinder is a pin-tumbler lock with four pin stacks and no security pins. The cylinder typically uses the M1 key profile but may use other profiles, as well. The standard No. 6 can be opened in both directions but the "commercial" series body restricts opening to clockwise rotation. The No. 6 is not a key retaining padlock.

Disassembly instructions
The No. 6 cannot be disassembled non-destructively. To disassemble it the rivets that hold the laminated body together must be removed and each layer removed individually. The inner cylinder itself can be disassembled in the same manner as a traditional pin-tumbler lock:

Notes
* The cylinder requires a small diameter plug follower.
* The plug is retained by a crimp, rather than a C-clip or cam. Above are the generic pin-tumbler disassembly instructions.

Vulnerabilities
The No. 6 is vulnerable to a wide range of attacks. The reduced pin tumbler count and poor manufacturing tolerances makes it an easy lock to pick. It's commonly given to locksport beginners as a "confidence lock"; a lock that is easy to open and inspires you to continue picking. The No. 2 may be vulnerable to one or more of the following:

* Lockpicking
* Key bumping
* Impressioning
* Decoding
The No. 4 is a pin-tumbler padlock made by Master Lock. The No. 4 uses a laminated brass padlock body with an internal key-in-knob-style cylinder. The inner cylinder uses four pin stacks and does not use any security pins.

The No. 4 is a common low security padlock used in the United States. It is one of a line of laminated brass padlocks that includes the Master Lock #2, #4, #6, and #8.

The No. 4 cylinder is a pin-tumbler lock with four pin stacks and no security pins. The cylinder typically uses the M1 key profile but may use other profiles, as well. The standard No. 4 can be opened in both directions but the "commercial" series body restricts opening to clockwise rotation. The No. 4 is not a key retaining padlock.

Disassembly instructions
The No. 4 cannot be disassembled non-destructively. To disassemble it the rivets that hold the laminated body together must be removed and each layer removed individually. The inner cylinder itself can be disassembled in the same manner as a traditional pin-tumbler lock:

Notes
* The No. 4 cylinder requires a small diameter plug follower.
* The No. 4 plug is retained by a crimp, rather than a C-clip or cam. Above are the generic pin-tumbler disassembly instructions.

Vulnerabilities
The No. 4 is vulnerable to a wide range of attacks. The reduced pin tumbler count and poor manufacturing tolerances makes it an easy lock to pick. It's commonly given to locksport beginners as a "confidence lock"; a lock that is easy to open and inspires you to continue picking. The No. 4 may be vulnerable to one or more of the following:

* Lockpicking
* Key bumping
* Impressioning
The No. 142 is a pin-tumbler padlock made by Master Lock. The No. 142 is a 40mm wide solid body padlock with a blue plastic cover with the word "Master" inlaid in silver. The plug is made of brass and does not contain any security pins. The shackle has a diameter of 6mm, and a length of either 22mm or 38mm.

The No. 142 can only be opened by rotating the plug clockwise.

Disassembly instructions
The No. 142 cannot be disassembled non-destructively; to disassemble it the lock must be sawed in half. The lock is nonfunctional once disassembled because the padlock body acts as the cylinder for the lock.

Vulnerabilities
The 142's low pin-tumbler count and poor manufacturing tolerances allows it to be easily picked by low skill attackers. It is commonly used in locksport groups as an introductory lock for beginners to learn.

The 14x series is vulnerable to overlift attacks, where the entire pin stack can be lifted with a comb pick into the driver's pin chamber and allowing plug rotation. Additionally, the 14x series tends to use zero-lift pins, and once you can identify these pins you can simply avoid them as the pin rests at the shear line. This means less than the total four pins will need to be lifted to enter the lock.

The No. 142 may be vulnerable to one or more of the following:

* Lockpicking
* Key bumping
* Impressioning
The No. 140 is a pin-tumbler padlock made by Master Lock. The No. 140 is a 40mm wide solid body padlock with an inner cylinder that uses four pin stacks and may contain spooled security pins. The shackle has a diameter of 6mm, and a length of either 22mm or 38mm.

The No. 140 cylinder is a pin-tumbler lock with four pin stacks. Older versions of the lock use one spool pin in the third chamber, more recent versions may have the spool in a random position or no spool at all. The No. 140 can only be opened by rotating the plug clockwise.
Vulnerabilities
The 140s low pin-tumbler count and poor manufacturing tolerances allows it to be easily picked by low skill attackers despite having spool pins. It is commonly used in locksport groups as an introductory lock for beginners to learn about defeating security pins (although note that some recent examples have no security pins at all).
The 140 series is vulnerable to overlift attacks, where the entire pin stack can be lifted with a comb pick into the driver's pin chamber, allowing plug rotation.

The No. 140 may be vulnerable to one or more of the following:

* Lockpicking
* Key bumping
* Impressioning
* Bypass
* Destructive entry
The No. 130 is a pin-tumbler padlock made by Master Lock. The No. 130 is a solid body padlock with an inner cylinder that uses four pin stacks and contains security pins. The 130 is essentially a smaller version of the more common Master Lock No 140.

The No. 130 cylinder is a pin-tumbler lock with four pin stacks and one or more security pins in various chambers. The No. 130 can only be opened by rotating the plug clockwise.

Disassembly instructions
The No. 130 cannot be disassembled non-destructively; to disassemble it the lock must be sawed in half. The lock is nonfunctional once disassembled because the padlock body acts as the cylinder for the lock.

Vulnerabilities
The 130s reduced pin-tumbler count and poor manufacturing tolerances allows it to be easily picked by low skill attackers despite having spool pins. The No. 130 may be vulnerable to one or more of the following:

* Lockpicking
* Key bumping
* Impressioning
The No 3 is a pin-tumbler padlock made by Master Lock. The actuator is a flat post that extends up between 2 wafers that hold the shackle in place. When rotated, the post moves each wafer inwards off the shackle allowing the shackle to move. Key pins do not appear to be brass.
The 72 series are pin-tumbler padlocks made by ABUS. They are made with an anodized aluminum body and a removable core. They can be re-keyed, master keyed and grand master keyed. The locks are key-retaining. They are available in a 30mm and 40mm size and with an optional long shackle. What makes them truly stand out from the typical ABUS are the bright colors. ABUS promotes this lock in their industrial safety padlock line. The aluminum body and optional aluminum shackle make it spark proof and corrosion resistant.
The No. 1 is a pin-tumbler padlock made by Master Lock. The No. 1 uses a laminated padlock body with an internal key-in-knob-style cylinder. The inner cylinder uses four pin stacks and does not use any security pins.

The No. 1 is one of the most common low security padlocks used in the United States.

__TOC__
<br clear=all>

Principles of operation
:See also Pin-tumbler (Principles of Operation)

The No. 1 cylinder is a pin-tumbler lock with four pin stacks and no security pins. The cylinder typically uses the M1 key profile but may use other profiles, as well. The standard No. 1 can be opened in both directions but the "commercial" series body restricts opening to clockwise rotation. The No. 1 is not a key retaining padlock.

Disassembly instructions
The No. 1 cannot be disassembled non-destructively. To disassemble it the rivets that hold the laminated body together must be removed and each layer removed individually. The inner cylinder itself can be disassembled in the same manner as a traditional pin-tumbler lock:

Notes
* The No. 1 cylinder requires a small diameter plug follower.
* The No. 1 plug is retained by a crimp, rather than a C-clip or cam. Above are the generic pin-tumbler disassembly instructions.

Vulnerabilities
The No. 1 is vulnerable to a wide range of attacks. The reduced pin tumbler count and poor manufacturing tolerances makes it an easy lock to pick. It's commonly given to locksport beginners as a "confidence lock"; a lock that is easy to open and inspires you to continue picking. The No. 1 may be vulnerable to one or more of the following:

* Lockpicking
* Key bumping
* Impressioning
* Decoding
Principles of operation
The RKS lock features a small connector tip that interfaces with a dialer. The interface allows for many different dialers from handheld dialers to automated machine dialers. The manual hand held dialer is primarily meant as a backup dialer and is similar to a traditional safe combination dial. The primary difference with the manual dialer is you have to dial 6 numbers verse the 3 of a traditional safe lock. The Robo Key Dialer is the most common interface with the RKS Lock. It remembers and automatically dials the combination of the lock for you at the push of the button in under two seconds. The automatic dialer is 100% open source, including the firmware, protocols and schematics.

Thank you for visiting Lockwiki! This page has information that should help you get started with browsing, searching, and contributing to the site. Further help is available in the Help namespace, see :Category:Help for a full list of Help pages.
Browsing & Searching Lockwiki
Lockwiki is free to browse, without requiring users to log in. If you are new to locksport, locksmithing, or physical security in general, the Main Page has many links that will help you get started. If you know what you are looking for, the search bar on the left of the page can be used to search the site. The Go button will redirect you to the first result found, and the search button will list all possible matches. If no match is returned you will be prompted to modify your search criteria.

By default Lockwiki only searches the "Main" and "Image" namespaces, which means that Category, Help, and Lockwiki (policies/site information) pages are not included. Depending on what you are searching for, including these in your search may be helpful. If you are a logged in user you can modify the default search namespaces by changing your "Search" options at Special:Preferences.

It might also be easier to browse by selecting from the Quick Search subset of categories, or by looking at the list of all categories or all pages.

Contributing to Lockwiki
Anyone can contribute to Lockwiki, but an account registration is required to minimize spam and vandalism. To get an account, please visit this page. You'll need the super secret password to make an account. Please email lockwiki@gmail.com with some details about yourself to get the password (sorry, we need to do this to prevent spam). See the Lockwiki:Privacy policy for more information about account privacy.

Make sure that all contributions follow Lockwiki's copyright policies as well as those of the United States and your country.

In some cases, excessive spamming or vandalism on a page forces it to be blocked from anonymous edits. In other cases, the page is deemed high-profile or otherwise sensitive and editing is restricted to administrators (for example, most Lockwiki policies).

How can I contribute?
There are many ways to contribute to Lockwiki, all of which are helpful to the site and those that read it.

; Create new pages
: To create a page: click a red link, visit the page directly (via URL), or search for it. Once you get to the page, you can start adding information to the page. Please use Help:Editing for style and editing guidelines. You can visit Special:WantedPages for a list of linked to but uncreated pages. Lockwiki:Requested_articles also lists reader/editor requests for new pages.

; Edit existing pages
: To edit an existing page, click the edit link at the top of the page. Many pages are lacking information that would make them more informative and interesting. The best example are stubs; articles that don't have enough information. For more information on tagging, creating, and expanding stubs, see Help:Stubs.

; Categorize pages
: Categories are an important part of Lockwiki that allow users to quickly find relevant information on a particular topic. You can contribute by properly categorizing articles either by adding them to existing categories or creating new categories for them to be added to. Please see Help:Editing for guidelines on categorization.

; Upload images
: High quality images are a great way to contribute to the site. To upload a file, you must be logged in and a Upload File link will appear in your toolbox on the left side under the navigation menu. Various filetypes are restricted for security reasons, so you'll need to keep your image in one of the following common formats: jpg, png, gif. For more help with images see Help:Images.

; Expand Help pages
: The Help namespace (that you're reading right now) can always use extra help to make Lockwiki more thoroughly documented. This follows the same rules as editing normal pages, but with the stipulation that they should be geared to helping editors or readers learn about or use the site. To see all existing Help pages, visit :Category:Help.

; Non-technical contributors
: You don't need to have a massive lock collection or be an expert locksmith to contribute to the site. There are many other ways you can help:
:* Lockwiki logo designs
:* Graphics; Lockwiki themed buttons, vector art, and lock diagrams
:* Web design; new or improved CSS and Wiki templates
:* Grammar and spelling corrections to any part of the site
:* Notify administrators of any copyright material on this site, or of improperly used Lockwiki material on another site
:* Promote the site! Add a link to Lockwiki.com on your peronsal website/forum/blog

; Donations
: The best way to support Lockwiki is by contributing high quality articles and images. If you prefer to help by donating money for web hosting and other expenses, please contact us.

__TOC__
Principles of operation
This lock has a double circular lever one pack consisting of 9 code wheels and 2 driver wheels. The other pack engages with the cuts on the key, drives the code pack and a corresponding fence that will go into the true cuts and then allows the bolt to be moved into the open or closed positions. The key has 9 different cuts (1 passive cut called AB). Cuts 1-4 are on the A-side of the key. Cuts 5-8 are on the B-side of the key. No cut on side A is called A1. Deepest cut on side A is called AB. AB is a passive cut. An AB cut meant that the next active cut is B5-B8. There is a transport key which being a no-cut is all A1's.
Only one side of the key is ever active in each cut position. Cuts on the opposite side of the key in these positions are only to make visual inspection harder. There are two versions of this lock. Only the code wheels differ. Version one takes longer to decode although decoding is possible the procedure is different.

Vulnerabilities
*Lockpicking
*Decoding
The decoding process for this high security lock was first designed and developed by a company called Technical Entry in 2012.

The process has three phases:
*1 - Determine whether the true cut for each lever is an odd or even number (1,3,5,7 or 2,4,6,8)
*2 - Use the anlalysis sheet to determine true or false gates
*3 - test possible combinations and open the lock
Time to decode using this technique ranges from about 12-40 minutes. The key code affects the decoding time.
The procedure is possible due to the design of the code wheels following a known pattern thus true code is possible to deduce via testing in a much reduced code space.

A wafer (or wafer tumbler, disc tumbler, plate tumbler) is a type of lock design that uses flat metal locking components to directly block rotation of the plug. Wafer keys position all wafers at the shear line to allow the plug to rotate freely.

Wafer locks are popular in a variety of environments, and are classified as low to medium security. Low-security cabinet, desk, and drawer locks are commonly a wafer design. Wafer locks are also the most common form of automobile lock, with many newer models integrating electronic components.

Disc-detainer lock designs use similar locking components, but are instead characterized by round disks that are rotated by the key.

__TOC__

History
The earliest wafer designs were developed by P. S. Felter in 1868 and Hiram S. Shepardson in 1870. In the 1930s Chicago Lock and Briggs Stratton began producing wafer locks that used a sidebar.

Principles of Operation
A set of wafers is used to block rotation of the plug at one or more points. Low-security wafer locks traditionally block at a single point, though more advanced models can block at the top and the bottom, as well as alternate the bitting of components to be at the top and bottom of the keyway. When the correct key is inserted, all wafers are properly positioned and the plug is free to rotate and engage the bolt mechanism.

Master keying is made possible by wafers with stepped or otherwise segregated bitting areas that interact with the change and master keys.

<div align="center"><gallery>
File:Disc_tumbler_locked.png|Wafers prevent rotation of the plug.
File:Disc_tumbler_with_key.png|The correct key raises each wafer to the shear line.
File:Disc_tumbler_unlocked.png|The plug can rotate when all wafers are at the shear line.
</gallery></div>

Components
; Wafers
: A flat piece of metal placed in the plug of the lock as the primary locking mechanism. Each wafer may have a different size or a different protrusion in the center to provide differs. When wafers are positioned so that they are not protruding from the plug, the plug and cam can rotate to lock or unlock the lock.

; Springs
: On the side(s) of wafers a spring is used to bias wafers out towards the cylinder.

; Plug
: The plug is the inner piece of the lock that rotates upon insertion and tension of the correct key. The plug is connected to the cam to actuate the bolt mechanism when rotated.

; Cylinder
: The cylinder is the outer piece of the lock that houses the plug. The cylinder is responsible for blocking rotation of the plug when wafers protrude from the plug.

; Cam
: The cam is an extension connected to the back of the plug which actuates the bolt mechanism to lock or unlock the lock.

Vulnerabilities
Wafer locks are vulnerable to a variety of attacks:

* Lockpicking
* Impressioning
* Decoding
* Bypass

Notes
* Wafer locks are not vulnerable to key bumping or pick gun attacks because they do not use pin-tumblers. Bumping a wafer lock will damage the wafers and may cause the bump key to get stuck in the lock.
* Low-security wafer locks are also subject to visual decoding based on the resting position of each component.
The 100G are a medium duty pin-tumbler padlock made by PACLOCK. These padlocks are laminated steel and used mainly in US Military applications. The cylinders contain serrated and spool drivers, offering some resistance to lockpicking. These locks are key-retaining.

The 100G has an optional chain.

Security
The 100G utilizes ball-bearings to prevent shimming, as well as a mix of standard, serrated, and spool driver pins.
Disassembly instructions
The 100G cannot be disassembled non-destructively.

Once the rivets are ground off, like with other standard laminated steel locks, the lock can be disassembled by removing each layer. Removing the first plate permits the core to be removed. In order to further disassemble, more plates must be removed, as the shackle is retained by a plate which keeps it from falling out once opened.
The Control is a pin-tumbler lock made by FAB. It was FAB's first attempt to make a lock with a legally protected key profile, such that FAB would be the sole manufacturer of blanks and locksmiths would only cut a key after being presented with the security card for a given lock. Given that manufacturing of the keys was not patent protected (as is the case with lock manufacturers in other countries), another manufacturer started producing blanks with minor modifications that still worked with Control locks. This caused FAB to allow free blank distribution and the security card was no longer necessary to copy a key.
Principles of operation
:See also: Pin-Tumbler (Principles of Operation)

The lock contains five pin stacks, with two chambers containing standard drivers and the rest contain spools.

The core has a wide overmilling on chamber 5, that is called nuta, which serves as a protection against dynamic methods like bumping. In principle, when the lock was subjected to a dynamic attack, and the gap is created between the key pin and the driver, the core starts to rotate; but before it rotates far enough, the driver springs back and gets caught in the overmilling. As a protection, its success rate was below 50%, and even when it did work, bypassing it by pushing on the last pin was trivial.
Nuta started to appear around year 2002, in reaction to reports on mysterious method of opening locks quickly and without a trace, that were aired around year 2000. Around year 2010 nuta was superseded by usage of RBC pins.

The profile used is quite paracentric, which adds to the protection against lockpicking. There is also considerable amount of anti-drill protection.

The key was protected by law, which turned insufficient; the blanks were restricted first, but free distribution was allowed later, when the protection failed.

Disassembly instructions
To disassemble a double euro cylinder, use of a pinning shoe is the preferred method.

Other possibility is to use a segmented follower, but that requires that both cores are pulled out a bit to allow a cam removal. Then a core should be rotated to approximately 4:30 or 7:30 o'clock position (135 degrees either clockwise or anti-clockwise) to prevent driver entering a gaps for the cam clutch. Then a segmented follower can be used to remove the core.

The FAB Control is vulnerable to one or more of the following:

* Lockpicking
* Decoding
* Key bumping - when nuta is worked around
The 1000 is a pin-tumbler lock made by FAB. It is one of two locks in FAB's current portfolio belonging to a resistance class 4 (according to CSN P EN1627:2000), which is the highest resistance class FAB offers.
The lock contains five pin stacks, with two chambers containing standard drivers, two chambers contain RBC pins and there is a single spool. This configuration hints that the manufacturer perceives dynamic methods as a higher threat than picking (although RBC pins can frustrate picking as well).

There are also positions for passive pins on the side of the core and the key features dimples on its right side that interact with those pins. It seems that normally marketed locks contain only one passive pin and the other position is populated by a ball bearing, which probably serves as additional anti-drill protection.

The profile used is quite paracentric and relatively thin, which adds to the protection against lockpicking. There is also considerable amount of anti-drill protection.

The key is protected with both patent application and utility model; the blanks are restricted and key can be cut or copied only when locksmith is presented with a security card.

Be careful to orient the whole lock in such a way, that the loss of passive pins is prevented (they are on the right side of the core, when the lock is situated in a pins down direction).

Vulnerabilities
The FAB 1000 is vulnerable to one or more of the following:

* Lockpicking
* Decoding
* Key bumping - when RBC pins are worked around
The 50 is a pin-tumbler lock made by FAB. It has a rating of resistance class 1, which means it is meant to be used for temporarily locking objects without providing much security.
The lock contains five pin stacks, with two chambers containing standard drivers, and three chambers contain spools. These spools, along with usually quite aggressive bitting do provide some basic anti-picking protection.
The profile used (R14) is not paracentric, and there is no anti-drill or anti-bumping protection.
