Sparrows' sells individual picks as well as large sets (Tuxedo, Black Flag, among others). Kits ship with some tension wrenches and others are available for purchase. Sparrows also manufactures several cutaway locks, a Revolver which has four opposing SC4 keyways for practice, and a master keying set.
The No. 142 is a pin-tumbler padlock made by Master Lock. The No. 141 is a solid body padlock with a blue plastic cover with the word "Master" inlaid in silver. The plug is made of brass and does not contain any security pins.

The No. 142 can only be opened by rotating the plug clockwise.

Disassembly instructions
The No. 142 cannot be disassembled non-destructively; to disassemble it the lock must be sawed in half. The lock is nonfunctional once disassembled because the padlock body acts as the cylinder for the lock.

Vulnerabilities
The 142's low pin-tumbler count and poor manufacturing tolerances allows it to be easily picked by low skill attackers despite having spool pins. It is commonly used in locksport groups and an introductory lock for beginners to learn.

The 14x series is vulnerable to overlift attacks, where the entire pin stack can be lifted with a comb pick into the driver's pin chamber and allowing plug rotation. Additionally, the 14x series tends to use zero-lift pins, and once you can identify these pins you can simply avoid them as the pin rests at the shear line. This means less than the total four pins will need to be lifted to enter the lock.

The No. 142 may be vulnerable to one or more of the following:

* Lockpicking
* Key bumping
Construction keying uses small discs, bearings or other spacers within the pin stack to allow related but dissimilar keys to open a series of locks that can later be revoked by using a different key.

__TOC__
<br clear=all>

Principles of operation
When new subdivisions of homes are constructed, a general contractor will provide a general key for a neighborhood to carpenters, painters, and other contractors. This allows easy access to several homes without requiring different keys, and prevents duplication and later entry into the homes once a homeowner moves in.

When the homeowner moves in, their key will be cut similar to the construction key -- which will allow the balls or wafers to enter the bible. When the plug is rotated, the spring tension will push the spacers into extra holes cut into the plug.

Vulnerabilities
Measuring the pin depth of your key, and adding the size of the spacers to the depth will allow the construction key depths to be derived. From this, permutations can be determined which may allow entry to other homes by the same builder.

Construction keying uses small discs, bearings or other spacers within the pin stack to allow related but dissimilar keys to open a series of locks that can later be revoked by using a different key.

The No. 140 is a pin-tumbler padlock made by Master Lock. The No. 140 is a solid body padlock with an inner cylinder that uses four pin stacks and may contain spooled security pins.

The No. 140 cylinder is a pin-tumbler lock with four pin stacks. Older versions of the lock use one spool pin in the third chamber, more recent versions may have the spool in a random position or no spool at all. The No. 140 can only be opened by rotating the plug clockwise.

Disassembly instructions
The No. 140 cannot be disassembled non-destructively; to disassemble it the lock must be sawed in half. The lock is nonfunctional once disassembled because the padlock body acts as the cylinder for the lock.

Vulnerabilities
The 140s low pin-tumbler count and poor manufacturing tolerances allows it to be easily picked by low skill attackers despite having spool pins. It is commonly used in locksport groups and an introductory lock for beginners to learn about defeating security pins (although note that some recent examples have no security pins at all).

The 140 series is vulnerable to overlift attacks, where the entire pin stack can be lifted with a comb pick into the driver's pin chamber and allowing plug rotation.

The No. 140 may be vulnerable to one or more of the following:

* Lockpicking
* Key bumping
* Impressioning
