Principles of operation
The ABUS 80TI/50 padlock is a standard pin-tumbler lock with a paracentric keyway, and six pin pairs. While the key pins are the traditional design, the driver pins are various security pin shapes: spooled, serrated, and special T-pin shape that suggests it is intended to provide protection from bumping attacks.

When all the pins are lifted to the shear line, the plug can rotate clockwise.
:See also Pin-tumbler (Principles of operation)

The ABUS 80TI/50 can only be opened by rotating the plug clockwise.

Model variations
Disassembly instructions
The ABUS 80TI-50 cannot be disassembled non-destructively; to disassemble, you have to drill open the seventh pin chamber and remove the retaining pin and spring. Be warned, you can't use a follower or a shim, maybe a modified pinning shoe will work. If not, the driver pins will shoot in the empty chamber when you pull the plug out.
</gallery>

Vulnerabilities
The ABUS 80TI/50 is vulnerable to "over lift" attacks, where the entire pin stack can be lifted, using a comb pick, into the driver's pin chamber, allowing plug rotation.

The ABUS 80TI/50 may be vulnerable to one or more of the following:

* Lockpicking
* Impressioning
* Bypass

The Biaxial is a UL 437-rated pin-tumbler lock made by Medeco. It is well known for the use of rotating bottom (key) pins that interface with a sidebar. The Biaxial is one of the most widely used American high security locks. It was previously thought to be one of the most secure locks available, but continued research from the locksport community has proven a variety of attacks are possible, including key bumping.

The Biaxial is a newer version of the Medeco Original and has since been superseded by the Medeco M3. The Medeco Duracam is a dimple lock form of the Biaxial.

__TOC__

Principles of Operation
The Medeco Biaxial uses five or six pin-tumblers that provide axial rotation to interface with a sidebar located at 3 o'clock. Pin-tumblers must be properly raised to the shear line as well as rotated so that the sidebar arms can fall into notches on the side of each pin-tumbler. Axial rotation is provided by the design of the bottom (key) pins and angled bitting cuts on the key. There are 6 depths available for pin-tumblers, allowing 7,776 (65) theoretical key differs in a five pin Biaxial (excluding the sidebar).

The main difference between the Biaxial and the Original is that Biaxial bottom pins sit before or after the center of the bitting cut. This allows for six total positions of the bottom pins, but pins use only three true gate positions. Biaxial pins have their own rotation codes:

<div align="center">
Type || Left || Center || Right
Fore (Biaxial)
K || B || Q
Original
L || C || R
Aft (Biaxial)
M || D || S
}</div>

There are 6 total positions for bottom pins, allowing 7,776 (65) and 46,656 (66) total sidebar differs in five and six pin Biaxials, respectively. True gates on the pins can only be rotated to three positions, so there are only 243 (35) and 729 (36) actual rotational differs in five and six pin Biaxials.

The Biaxial uses 2-3 mushroom top pins in each cylinder to provide manipulation resistance to traditional lockpicking. The sidebar notches on the sides of the bottom pins may also have false notches to resist manipulation by rotation. In addition, "ARX" pins are used to protect against manipulation by rotation. ARX pins close the sidebar notches before they reach the end of the pin, making it so they cannot be readily grabbed by a tool.

Resistance to forced entry is provided in the form of hardened steel rods and discs. In the plug rods are in the 3, 9, and 12 o'clock positions. In the cylinder, two crescent shaped discs are placed at the 12 and 3 o'clock positions to protect the pin-chambers and the sidebar. As a secondary locking mechanism, the sidebar itself also helps to protect against a variety of forced entry techniques. Bottom pins may also have a hardened steel core to resist drilling.
File:Medeco_Biaxial_pins_aligned.jpg|Sidebar pins properly aligned by the key.
</gallery></div>

Notes
* Biaxial and Original bottom pins are not interchangeable. They are identified by the position of the flag that limits rotation. The flag is 90&deg; from the true gate in the Original and 180&deg; in the Biaxial.
* The Biaxial can be identified by the the Biaxial logo (a split circle) to the left of the keyway.

Disassembly instructions
Disassembly of the Biaxial is simplified compared to other sidebar-based locks because there are no additional finger pins used in the sidebar. The diameter of the plug is 12.966mm.

Notes
* When reassembled the sidebar must be pointed down, with the ball bearing facing the front of the plug.

Vulnerabilities
The Biaxial may be vulnerable to one or more of the following:

* Lockpicking
* Decoding
* Impressioning
* Key bumping

Notes
* The validity of key bumping attacks against Medeco cylinders has been debated between Medeco and the locksport community. Research done by Marc Weber Tobias and Tobias Bluzmanis has shown these systems are vulnerable to a wide variety of attacks, including bumping.
* Lockpicking attacks against this lock were previously thought extremely difficult due to axial rotation. A tool called the "Medecoder", developed by Jon King, made this process much easier and at the same time allowed for decoding of the sidebar code.

The 6000 has since been superceded by other Twin series models, particularly the ASSA Twin V-10 and ASSA Twin Combi.

__TOC__

Principles of operation
The 6000 uses six pin-tumbler pins and five sidebar side pins. To open the lock, all pin-tumblers must be aligned at the shear line and all side pins must be properly aligned with the sidebar legs. Balanced pin stacks are used to resist attack from comb picks as well as reduces wear on the springs. Driver pins come in four sizes and use a modified spool design which is combined with counter-milling in the plug chambers to provide high pick resistance. There are nine depths for pin-tumblers, allowing for 531,441 (96) theoretical key differs for the pin-tumbler portion of the lock. The MACS for this lock is five depths, giving the 6000 around 160,000 real key differs. Master keying is available using traditional pin-tumbler master pins available in eight sizes.

Unlike many other sidebar locks, the Twin 6000 side pins are identical. Cuts are made on the sidebar directly and side pins must be raised to match these positions. All side pins use serrations above and below the true gate to provide manipulation resistance. Rekeying of the sidebar portion of the lock is only possibly when the sidebar is physically replaced or flipped upside-down. This interaction between side pins and sidebar gates frustrates traditional decoding attacks that attempt to measure the range of movement of the side pins. There are five depths available for side pins, giving the Twin 3,125 theoretical sidebar differs (55). There are 2,800 real sidebar differs, using 1400 sidebars that can be flipped in either orientation. Keys blanks are stamped with a three digit indirect sidebar bitting code and sometimes an additional two digit keyway code.

To provide resistance against destructive entry, the 6000 uses hardened steel pins in the front of the plug and near the sidebar and third and fourth pin-stacks. In addition, driver pins are made of stainless steel to frustrate drilling of the pin stacks.

The d12 is a medium security EN 1303-rated pin tumbler cylinder made by ASSA for residential or commercial use. It is intended as a successor to the ASSA 700 series which dates back to 1948. The d12 features six pins and numerous security improvements over the original cylinder, including a paracentric keyway and patented key profiles.

There are two main models:
* model 13XX featuring usual six pins (referred to as Level 1 in Han Fey's document) and no protection against unauthorized key copying.
* model 12XX featuring a checkpin interacting with the secondary bitting at the front of the key, close to its spine (referred to as Level 2 in the Han Fey's document), that is protected from unauthorized key copying.
Each of those models seem to have one more sub-model (designed 0200 and 0300), that according to the product sheets are not considered as approved locking devices (godkänd låsenhet) by the insurance companies.

__TOC__
<br clear=all>

Principles of operation
d12 key has two cuts for every keypin, which doesn't have to be at the same height. Combined with the double spiked keypins, where the spikes doesn't have the be the same height, allows some form of masterkeying, not requiring master wafers. This adds to the overall security of the lock as there doesn't have to be additional shearlines.

The Level 2 model has at least one keypin in one of the last two chambers switched for a higher checkpin, that interacts with the secondary bitting at the tip of the key.

All driver pins are ASSA barrel spools and all chambers have the matching counter-milling, which coupled with the keyway design leads to high resistance against lockpicking. All core chambers also contain two grooves, that have several functions: first of all, they ensure the keypin can't rotate, which could render the lock inoperable; the second function is to prevent bumping (or at least make it very hard) - each keypin's wings end in different heights, which causes the tops of the pins stay in different heights.

The core has two holes on both the left and the right side, that seem to be aligned with the first chamber, which would suggest the possibility of the construction keying.
File:ASSA_d12_pin-Reinder.png
</gallery></div>

Disassembly instructions
There are two main assemblies this lock can be found in which will vary by branding and format. One uses a C-clip on the back on the plug while the other uses a large retaining screw.

If the lock uses the retaining screw:

# Unscrew the Torx screw on the tailpiece and remove the wafer beneath it.
# Unscrew the retaining screw from the rear of the plug.
# Unscrew and remove the closing rod over the pin chambers (be careful not to allow springs to escape).
# Remove the driver pins and springs. They are all the same so there is no need to keep them in order. Key pins cannot fit through the top chambers.
# Slide the plug out of the housing.

Disassembly using a follower is possible but not recommended due to the threads on the back of the plug that accept the retaining screw.

If the lock uses a C-clip:

# Remove the C-clip.
# Insert the key and turn the plug 45-90 degrees.
# Withdraw the plug from the cylinder. (A plug follower is recommended)

When reassembling the lock, always check with the key if all the keypins rest at the shearline - if a pin is turned around, chances are it will be either too deep or too high, rendering the key not working.

Vulnerabilities
The ASSA d12 may be vulnerable to one or more of the following:

* Lockpicking
* Decoding
* Impressioning
* Key bumping

Founded in the Black Forest of Germany, the Kromer factory began manufacturing locks in 1868. The Protector Schloss was awarded the gold medal at the World Exhibition in Vienna in 1874. This lock was produced for more than 125 years and sold around the world. Kromer joined with Unican in 1997, and was later acquired by the Mauer company, forming Mauer Kromer GmbH.
The Twin V-10 (or V-10, Twin 2, Twin 7000) is a UL 437 rated pin-tumbler lock made by ASSA. The V-10 is part of the Twin series of locks that use pin-tumblers and a sidebar to provide two layers of security. The V-10 is an updated version of the ASSA Twin 6000 cylinder.

The V-10 is distinct because it is the first of the Twin series to provide geographically distributed sidebar codes to protect against key interchange and unauthorized duplication. It also has a patented key control system that provides a high number of key and sidebar differs(expired 2014).

__TOC__

Principles of operation
The V-10 uses six pin-tumblers and five sidebar finger pins. The top (driver) pins use single and double-spool designs. Counter-milling in the plug chambers works with the spool pins and provides a high level of pick resistance. There are 9 depths available for bottom (key) pins, and four depths available for top (driver) pins. Top and bottom pins are combined to provide a uniform height pin stack that resists attack from comb picks as well as reduces wear on the springs. In total, there are 531,441 (96) theoretical key differs for the pin-tumbler portion of the lock.

The sidebar, located in the 8 o'clock position, is pushed out by two springs. The sidebar is interesting because it provides a pre-made set of cuts that must be matched by the finger pins. This contrasts traditional sidebars which have uniform sidebar cuts. In the V-10 system, all finger pins have the same true gates and the key raises them to different positions to match the sidebar. Manipulation protection on the finger pins is provided in the form of false gates above and below the true gate. V-10 finger pins can also be in either the for (left) or aft (right) positions. Mono-keyed locks all use the for position, but master key systems include both for and aft positions. Finger pins can be lifted to five different positions. In total, there are 100,000 ((5*2)5) sidebar bittings (3,125 in mono-keyed systems).

The cylinder and plug use a variety of hardened steel inserts to protect against forced entry. In the plug, steel rods are located at the 9, 12, and 3 o'clock positions. In the cylinder, three rods are located in front of the pin chambers at the 12 o'clock position. Rods near the third pin chamber in the plug and cylinder are also common.

Notes
* The patent on V-10 key profiles ends in December, 2014.
* Older V-10 keys list the direct keyway code on the bow of the key. Newer keys use an indirect code.
* The pin-tumbler bitting code is referred to as the system code, and the sidebar bitting code as the sidebar code.

Disassembly instructions
The V-10 is disassembled in the same way as a traditional pin-tumbler cylinder. The sidebar does not cause too many problems when the plug is removed. When the key is removed from the exposed plug the finger pins will be forced out by spring pressure.

Vulnerabilities
The V-10 system may be vulnerable to one or more of the following:

* Lockpicking
* Impressioning
* Decoding
* Key bumping

Notes
* Bumping is possible given a bump key with the correct sidebar bitting. This was a cause for concern when bumping became popular because of the poor distribution of regional sidebar codes in the V-10 system.

There are two main models - model 13XX featuring usual six pins (also referred to as Level 1) and model 12XX featuring a checkpin interacting with the secondary bitting at the front of the key, close to its spine (referred to as Level 2).citation needed
__TOC__
<br clear=all>

* Lockpicking
* Decoding
* Impressioning
700 cylinders feature a single shear line. All models have seven pin stacks and use security pins. Cylinders are available in mortise, rim, and Scandinavian profiles and can be fitted in specialized padlock housings. The "SCD" stamp indicates that it is "Security Cylinder Drillproof". Keys for the 700 are nickel silver. The key combination is read from tip to bow. A #1 cut is the deepest and a #9 cut is the shallowest. MACS is 5. The first disc in the lock is made of hardened steel and is free-floating. This provides drill resistance as well as lockpicking resistance.
File:Abloy_Classic_sidebar_aligned.jpg|The discs properly aligned.
</gallery></div>

Notes
* The first disc (hardened steel) is always a 0 cut (90&deg;). The PL3020 padlock uses a brass first disc.
* Master keying is made possible by multiple true gates cut on each disc.
* The sidebar may be round (round true gates) or L shaped (square true gates). Modern Abloy designs use the L shaped sidebar, with the exception of the PL330C padlock and cam locks. The "L" shape prevents drilling and removal of the sidebar without drilling through the entire disc pack.

Disassembly instructions
Disassembly of the Abloy Classic is fairly simple, though care must be taken to ensure the discs, washers, and sidebar are removed properly. Discs cannot be flipped around and the order of washers must be preserved to ensure proper function once reassembled.

Vulnerabilities
The Classic may be vulnerable to one or more of the following:

* Lockpicking
* Impressioning
* Decoding

Notes
* If a round sidebar is used the front of the cylinder can be drilled and sidebar removed to unlock the lock.
* For lockpicking, a front-tensioned Classic will only rotate the first disc 90&deg;. Others will be tensioned elsewhere and the first disc will rotate freely.
