ODIS, was founded by the Italian engineer Valerio Poli Adami, who after being hired by the Italian company Cherete e Tanfani to install the funicular on San Cristobal Hill in Santiago, became independent and founded the company “Obras DeIngeniería Santiago” (ODIS) in Chile in 1930, which would go on to become one of the first lock manufacturers based in the country.<ref>[https://www.odis.cl/acerca-de/ Odis About Us]</ref>
