The Miracle Magnetic is a hybrid lock made by Liquidonics Industries. It uses a row of six pin-tumblers and four magnetic pins as active locking components.
Principles of operation
The Miracle Magnetic is a hybrid magnetic and pin-tumbler lock that uses six pin-tumblers at 12 o'clock and four magnetic tumblers at 3 and 9 o'clock in the plug. The key has a total of four magnetic rods inserted below the pin-tumbler bitting. The magnetic inserts in the key pull the plug magnets into the plug so that they do not block the shear line. Rotation of the plug is achieved when pin-tumblers are raised to the correct height and magnets are pulled into the plug. In total, there are 16 (24) theoretical magnetic differs. The position of the magnets in the key restricts the bitting depths of positions 1 and 5.[1]
Disassembly instructions
The Miracle Magnetic can be disassembled like a normal pin-tumbler lock. Removal of the key will repel the plug magnets outward; make sure to cover the plug magnets with your hand when removing a key from an exposed plug.
- Remove the cam or C-clip.
- Insert the key and turn the plug 45-90 degrees.
- Withdraw the plug from the cylinder. (A plug follower is recommended)
OR
- Remove the chamber casings and take out each pin-stack individually
- Remove the cam or C-clip.
- Withdraw the plug from the cylinder.
Vulnerabilities
The Miracle Magnetic may be vulnerable to one or more of the following:
Notes
- Impressioning and bumping are possible given a key with the correct magnetic inserts.
- Both magnetic and pin-tumbler components can be decoded individually.
