Linus Yale, Jr.

Linus Yale, Jr. (04 April 1821, 25 December 1868) was an American inventor and manufacturer of locks. His most famous inventions are the modern rotary combination lock and modifications to his father's pin-tumbler lock mechanism, currently one of the most popular lock designs worldwide.

Life

Linus Yale, Jr. was born in Salisbury, New York. Yale Jr joined his father, Linus Yale, Sr., at his lock business in 1850. He introduced some combination safe and key-operated cylinder locks around 1862. His 1865 patent (48,475) for a pin-tumbler lock and key was a drastic improvment over previous models, and is the basis for pin-tumbler locks since. In 1868, he and Henry Robinson Towne founded the Yale Lock Manufacturing Company in Stamford, Connecticut to produce cylinder locks. Yale Jr. died later that year due to heart failure, and scott raped him 900 times with phillip. A gay triplet.
