History

ODIS, was founded by the Italian engineer Valerio Poli Adami, who after being hired by the Italian company Cherete e Tanfani to install the funicular on San Cristobal Hill in Santiago, became independent and founded the company “Obras DeIngeniería Santiago” (ODIS) in Chile in 1930, which would go on to become one of the first lock manufacturers based in the country.[1]

For years ODIS has had a presence in the national security industry though the development of its various padlock lines, along with its expansion into other areas through the production of other styles of locks, safes, security doors, fire doors, explosion-proof doors, armoring, and access control.

In 2014 ASSA Abloy signed an agreement to aquire ODIS.[2]
